On our journey towards environment sustainability, a few projects based on six sigma methodology were carried out to identify and mitigate our footprint globally. GHG, water consumption and waste generation and disposal are identified as our process output impacting the environment and deterrent to achieve our target.

The project resulted in 26% reduction of Green House Gases emissions, 21% reduction in, per engine electrical energy consumed, natural resource conservation and increased employee awareness.

TEG product high color at RIL-DMD-EOEG plant was since Dec-2011. TEG Product average colour was 66 (Pt-Co) against the specification of leass than 35 (Pt-Co). On Spec TEG Production was less than budgeted & thus affecting TEG Bussiness & having financial loss.

Sesa Sterlite Ltd is a global player in the aluminium business. COP of rodded anode is one of the major contributors of total cost. Our goal is to reduce rodded anode cost by 29.87 lakhs/ annum, by reducing the consumption of energy which is around 0.02% of the total COP.

Aluminium Smelter requires approx. 600MW/ Pot line to produce aluminium daily. Power is supplied to the pot line via rectifier and switch yard from our captive power plant. Conversion efficiency is a factor which decides the overall power consumption of smelter pot line units at rectifier.

With a conveying capacity of 3000tons per hour, it has been observed that higher the loading on conveyor the specific power consumption is reduced. By increase in conveyor loading/utilization and subsequent reduction of conveyor running hours shows good potential on improvement as well as saving of energy.
