For over 27 years, Roma has developed, directed, engineered, counseled and supervised a wide range of consumer &, lifestyle, healthcare and corporate communications programmes including market entries, brands positioning, stakeholder engagement, advocacy campaigns and public health education programmes for several national and international companies – from Sony Entertainment Television, Film Companion, DuPont, KPMG, Coca-Cola, TVF, Kellogg’s, Heinz, Cadbury’s, India Fashion Week, and DeBeers to Abbott, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, Takeda, Wyeth and UNAIDS.
She headed the team that co-ordinated all aspects of her company's award winning social communications project -- Humraahi (Come Along with Me) – a 52-episode television serial that used an entertainment-education approach through a soap opera format to address socially relevant public health & social issues like the status of women, family planning, fertility control behaviour in India, on national network television (Doordarshan). Humraahi was supported by the late Mr JRD Tata and Tata Sons. Rated Number #1 when it was telecast, Humraahi was widely acclaimed for its impact on social attitudinal change. It won several global and national accolades including the UN Award in New York and was also felicitated at the Emmy’s.
She has been supporting leading writer, actor, director, Nandita Das for the last 4 years on her projects and has worked closely with the team on their production - Between The Lines and on their path breaking venture - CinePlay -- a new genre of cinema that merges the power of cinema with the magic of theatre! In 2014, Roma started consulting renowned film critic, journalist and author Anupama Chopra on her new YouTube venture, Film Companion and worked closely with her team on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
Over the last 3 years, she has been working closely with the UNAIDS team in India on their public awareness programmes.
Roma has been a member of the Panel of Judges of the Qimpro Awards, the country’s premier quality citations for over 5 years.
Roma has also been assisting local and international NGOs in India like St Jude India Childcare Centres, Akanksha, Friends of Women’s World Banking, Teach for India, Save the Children, SNEHA and most recently, Toybank.
Prior to her current position, Roma was National Practice Director for the consumer/lifestyle/luxury marketing and Healthcare practices at R&PM:Edelman.
She graduated as an Economics major from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai and completed a post-graduate diploma in mass communications from Xavier’s Institute of Communications.
