Abstract
Reliance Energy is India’s largest integrated private sector power utility company. The company is into generation, transmission, distribution and trading of power. It distributes over 5,000 MW of power — the largest in the country. Reliance Energy operates 2 x 250 MW Thermal Power Plant at Dahanu. In its mission towards becoming world-class power plant, DTPS has initiated many projects, which are focused on customer's requirement. To optimize fuel cost at its Dahanu Thermal Power Station (DTPS), Reliance Energy used the Design of Experiment (DOE) tool. DOE used to optimize output of process in which effect of input on output can be seen by varying input. This helps in setting optimum input level and in understanding effect of input on output and which input has the most influence on the output i.e. sensitivity analysis. Various models for major variables of fuel cost were developed. Integrating all these models gives optimized fuel cost model.
